Take it away now

Why is this interesting?

After 2023, the year in which generative ai changed everything, its superficial presence at CES 2024 showed that companies are still trying to make sense of its transformative potential.

Key products:

  • HL Mando Parkie

  • Bosch Autonomous Valet & Charge

  • EVAR Parky

The critical questions:

  • How can you make it easier for consumers to transition to EVs within existing infrastructure systems?

  • How can marketing and comms help set appropriate expectations and support the mind shift that owning an EV demands of people?

The detail:

With much negative press surrounding EVs and charging in particular, anything that can improve the reliability, efficiency and availability of charging is likely to be well-received by consumers.

Bosch showed off an evolution of its automated parking system which uses their ADAS know-how to valet park cars within multi-story parking stations. This year, they introduced valet park-and-charge, which integrates robot charging arms in to a number of bays to cars can be summoned for charging while the driver is away.

The HL Mando Parkie is, perhaps, the more interesting solution as it's ADAS agnostic and claims to improve the space efficiency of parking by 40%. A low sled that can lift and shift a vehicle from drop-off point to parking bay, the Parkie uses integrated LIDAR to both map and navigate the lot, which means it can be easily deployed within existing parking infrastructure.
